Why Participate in the Cooperative Education & Internship Program?

Experience Before Graduation

Cooperative education (co-ops) and internships are great ways for highly motivated students to combine on-campus academic course work with practical on-the-job training to receive awesome experience before graduation.

Co-op placements are multi-semester, progressive placements directly relating to your area of study. All positions are paid and academic credit is usually available.

Internships are typically one semester in length, often unpaid (although, not always) and may or may not be eligible for credit.  Many students participate during the summer or during their last semester before graduation.

Make Your Dream A Reality!

You came to college to better yourself, right?  At least part of bettering yourself is getting a "better" job.  Co-ops and internships may be the best way to make that happen.  Our goal is to combine academic study with professional experience.

Would you buy a car without taking it for a test drive? Of course not.  Then why would you ever dream of spending four years (or more) preparing for a career without first "taking it for a test drive."

Consider these benefits:

  • Confirm your major and career choice by getting experience in your field
  • Experience the "real world" prior to graduation
  • Gain work experience that will set you apart from other students
  • Earn money to help offset college expenses
  • Make contacts with professionals in your field
  • Develop confidence through successful experiences and newly developed skills
  • Improve your job search, resume-writing and interviewing skills (Link to our Workshop Schedule for more info.)
  • Possibly earn academic credit

How Do I Get Involved?

Attend a Co-op/Internship Orientation Workshop.  Orientations are held every Thursday and are designed to answer your questions and assist you getting involved in the program.  For more details, link to our Workshop Schedule.
